BIG EXPECTATIONS FOR UNTIL DAWN

This PS4 Exclusive Is Almost Out, But Will It Live Up To Its Hype?

Until Dawn, an interactive horror PS4 Exclusive is set to be released in just a few days, (The 25th to be exact) and it has already gotten a lot of positive reviews, based upon demo's available at last years PSX. But the real question is, will the finalized product hold up to the demo? After all, gameplay is drastically changed from one stage of the production process to another, and this ultimately changes the game, from the demo to physical copy.

Conducting a quick search, you can see that footage of the game is already scattered all over the internet. In fact, you can actually watch the first 24 minutes of the game, courtesy of IGN.

So we watched some of it, and here is our prediction: This game is going to be hysterically haunting. That may seem to be a bit of an oxymoron, however, we got this from the first 9 minutes of footage.

You start the game in a woods, looking for your lost girlfriend, Jessica, who lets out a blood curdling scream. In a calm manner, you press forward, wandering through the woods with only a flashlight. Your first sentence is literally, "F**k Nuggets", and yet, it didn't really upset the creepy setting of the game. Skip forward a bit and you are reunited with Jess. Skip forward a little more, and a few jump scares later until you are chased by a mysterious being to your cabin.

Instantly, the only thing you and Jess can think about is pleasure. Pretty cliche, right? And yet, throughout the rest of the footage, you can't help but to get that nostalgic feeling like when watching a Friday the 13th movie, where stupid teenagers are naked and drinking, and you're sitting there screaming at the TV, predicing their inevitable fate. It doesn't come off as stupid, but essentially perfectly captures the classic horror experience that a lot of us crave. We think that sums it up perfectly.

What is more is the game gives us choices, a whole lot of them. For instance, when running through the woods away from this unknown danger, you can choose to stay the path you're on, or risk taking a shortcut through the woods. Add to that the fact that every decision, every dialouge that takes place effects the outcome of the game. You are ultimately in control of what happens, within reason of course.

But will the live game live up to that as a whole? There really is no way to say definitively yes or no, but it is looking good. Very good.
