Hearthstone, set within the Warcraft universe, pits players against each other in a fashion similar to a physical trading card battle. In a turn based match, players will start the game with a collection of cards that are catagorized as basic, and will gain more powerful cards by purchasing different packs or completing Arena runs.

Hearthstone boasts a largely diverse combination of cards, with a card number coming in at a massive 566, with more planned in the future. Players can choose to play a multitude of different game modes, but the most popular is a Ranked Mode, in which the outcome of the game will affect your standing in the community.

Hearthstone is supported by a microtransaction system, in which players can purchase cards with real world currency. However, the game gives players who do not wish to pay multiple ways to earn free cards, and players can amass a powerful deck without spending a dime. That being said, as in most microtransaction environments, players who want to load their deck with the most powerful cards will almost always have an upper hand.
